Who the hell are you, and why should we care?
I’m Ethan Ewing, and I hope I do enough in the water to make people care? I’m not sure!
How old are you, and where you from?
I’m 18 years old and I’m from North Stradbroke Island, Australia
What does surfing give you?
Happiness! Surfing is definitely when I’m at my happiest, especially if it’s with friends or family, that’s as good as it gets. I really love competing too.
What do you bring to the surfing world?
Style, power, flow. Or at least that’s what I’d like to bring to surfing. I grew up looking up to the Irons brothers, Mick Fanning and Tom Curren, and Id love to be able to follow in their footsteps.
My biggest achievement in surfing is…
Qualifying for the World Tour. It was always my goal, but to have it happen so quickly has blown me away a little. My plan last year was to try and win the Australiasian Pro Juniors and get a seed into the prime events this year, so things really escalated. Winning the World Junior Championships was a nice way to finish off the year, too. I’m stoked.
Good surfing is…
Progressive, and it gets me amped. I really like a mix of everything, being well rounded is crucial. That’s what I am aiming for.
What do you love most about the life you lead?
All the travel. It’s awesome that I get to visit so many new places around the world, and get to experience them all and soak it up. Coming home is cool too, the support and encouragement I get from my friends and family is incredible, and it makes me super happy seeing everyone so excited about what I’ve been up to, or the results I’ve been getting.
What’s one thing we don’t know about you?
Oh man, I’m not sure. Griffin would have said he pees his pants when he laughs right? I’m pretty normal I think? I’ll get back to you!
What is your new years resolution?
Requalify for the World Tour. Actually, lets go for Rookie Of The Year. There are so many of us this year that you’d think if you win it your gonna requalify anyway. Two birds with one stone, done.
